Buying a Ford Super Duty in Middlesex and Monmouth County
Tom's Ford sells and services the full Ford Super Duty lineup (F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups, plus F-350 through F-600 chassis cabs) from 200 NJ-35 South in Keyport, 30 seconds off Garden State Parkway Exit 117. Most of our commercial business already comes from Edison, South Plainfield and the rest of Middlesex County. From Raritan Center it's about 20 minutes down the Parkway, and Holmdel and Middletown are about 15 minutes the other way.
Our commercial desk handles in-stock trucks, factory orders and the body: dump, landscape, service, flatbed, rollback or crane, built by our upfit partners so the truck shows up ready to work. After the sale, a dedicated commercial service team keeps it on the road, and our wholesale parts team delivers to your location twice a day anywhere within 30 miles, which covers every town on this page.

Ford Super Duty questions from local businesses
Where can a business in Edison, South Plainfield or Middletown buy a Ford Super Duty?
Tom's Ford, 200 NJ-35 South in Keyport, is a Ford Pro dealer off Garden State Parkway Exit 117: about 20 to 30 minutes from Edison and South Plainfield and about 15 minutes from Holmdel and Middletown. Matt Lyden, Commercial Sales Manager, handles in-stock F-250 through F-600 trucks, factory orders and upfits. Call 732-264-1600.
Do I need a CDL to pull an equipment trailer with a Super Duty?
Under federal rules, which New Jersey follows, you need a Class A CDL when the combination is rated 26,001 lb or more and the trailer itself is rated over 10,000 lb. For a pickup, add the truck's GVWR to the trailer's GVWR (both are on their VIN labels). An 11,500-lb F-350 with a 14,000-lb trailer is 25,500 lb, so no CDL. A 14,000-lb F-350 dually with the same trailer is 28,000 lb, so a Class A is needed. This is general guidance, not legal advice; confirm with the NJ MVC.
Will my work truck need a USDOT number?
Usually, yes. A truck or truck-and-trailer rated over 10,000 lb that is used for business generally falls under FMCSA rules, and New Jersey requires intrastate carriers to register for a USDOT number too. Ford offers some F-250 configurations at a 9,900-lb GVWR, which some businesses order to stay under that line when they aren't towing. Check your situation with the FMCSA or your compliance advisor.
F-350 or F-450 for a gooseneck trailer?
Ford rates the F-350 dually up to 38,000 lb on a gooseneck and the F-450 pickup up to 40,000 lb with the 40K package, both with the 6.7L High Output diesel. The single-rear-wheel F-350 tops out at 27,600 lb gooseneck. Use our Super Duty Towing Tool to check the exact configuration you're looking at.
How much can an F-550 chassis cab carry and tow?
Ford lists the F-550 chassis cab at 18,000 to 19,500 lb GVWR. It's rated up to 19,500 lb conventional and 34,300 lb gooseneck with the 6.7L diesel, 4.30 axle and the high-capacity trailer tow package. Payload depends on the body you put on it, so Matt prices the truck and body together.
What is the biggest Super Duty I can drive without a CDL?
The F-600 chassis cab, at 22,000 lb GVWR, is the heaviest Super Duty and still under the 26,001-lb line on its own. Add a trailer rated over 10,000 lb and the combination needs a Class A.
Can you put the dump, landscape or service body on before I pick it up?
Yes. We work with upfit partners including Dejana, Knapheide, Reading and Jersey Truck Equipment for dump, landscape, service, flatbed and crane bodies, so the truck shows up ready to work.
Do I have to bring my truck to Keyport for service?
Usually not. We have a dedicated commercial service team, and Ford Mobile Service and complimentary pickup and delivery cover businesses within 20 miles of Keyport, including Edison, Woodbridge, Sayreville, Holmdel and Middletown. South Plainfield and Piscataway are at the edge of that zone, so call and we'll work it out.
Do you deliver Ford parts to businesses in Edison and South Plainfield?
Yes. Our wholesale parts team delivers to your location twice a day anywhere within 30 miles of Keyport, which covers Edison, South Plainfield and the rest of Middlesex County. Five countermen with 200+ years of combined Ford parts experience handle the orders. Call 732-264-1694.
What changed on the 2027 Super Duty pickups?
Ford dropped the 6.8L gas V8 and the standard-output 6.7L diesel from the 2027 Super Duty pickups. The 7.3L gas V8 is now standard at 420 hp and 445 lb-ft, and the 6.7L High Output Power Stroke (500 hp, 1,200 lb-ft) is the only diesel. Towing ratings for the engines Ford kept match 2026.
Does a Super Duty qualify for Section 179?
Every Super Duty is rated over 6,000 lb GVWR, which is why work trucks are often bought with Section 179 in mind. Run your numbers in our free Section 179 NJ calculator, then confirm with your accountant. This is not tax advice.
